Speech Therapy to help your child succeed.

Our Therapy Model

We integrate therapy into the community and bring services to your home throughout the state of Delaware. Communication occurs across all environments, not just within the four walls of a single room.

So let’s do therapy on the playground, in the library, at the grocery store, in the playroom, in the kitchen, at a state park, at the mall, and beyond!

Speech & Language

Speech is the production of sounds. It is the result of coordination between your lungs, vocal folds, and all the muscles in your mouth. It requires specific coordination that most people do not even think about, but at bAACTalk! we do, and we can help your child achieve improved intelligibility.

Language is the understanding (receptive) and expression (expressive) of thoughts and ideas. It is important to have both for effective communication and interaction with others. Language encompasses things such as: following directions, understanding a story, sequencing ideas, putting words together to form sentences, and using grammar just to name a few.

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC)

Augmentative and Alternative Communication (AAC) this is all the forms of communication we use beyond verbal speech for expression of our thoughts. This includes such things as using sign language, pictures, technology, speech generating devices, keyboards, using AI, and written text to communicate. The world of AAC is ever expanding with new technology to assist the lives of individuals who benefit from it. We are here to help educate, explore, trial, and assist with submitting requests to insurances for consideration of AAC to be used for communication.

Feeding

Feeding therapy is designed to help children develop the skills needed for safe and enjoyable eating. Our specialists work closely with your child to address challenges such as picky eating, texture sensitivity, and oral motor difficulties. Through personalized strategies, we aim to make mealtime a positive and stress-free experience for your family.

We focus on building a strong foundation for healthy eating habits, fostering both confidence and independence. Whether your child struggles with specific textures or has difficulty chewing and swallowing, our goal is to ensure they receive the nutrition they need while enjoying a variety of foods.

Consulting

Are you currently working with an SLP or school team who is not familiar or comfortable with AAC? We can help by providing consultative services to assist in providing education on how to explore devices, what needs to be considered, and how to more forward with the purchase of a device. Consulting services are offered in 2 hour blocks either virtually or in person.

We think outside the box.

We care about creating genuine connections between people and meeting clients and families where they are without judgement. We strive to ask curious questions, follow evidence in the field, and to think outside of the box for therapy to be as effective as possible.

With experience in multiple different settings and these core values at our center, our founder, Katie, decided to open her own private practice.

From the very beginning, Katie communicated clearly and provided unwavering support. She patiently explained every step, making sure I felt confident and informed. Thanks to her guidance, my son has shown progress and improvements in his communication abilities over the past year, and I am beyond grateful for the positive impact she has had on our lives.
